Dr. Lilia Iakoucheva is a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California San Diego. She joined Psychiatry Department of UCSD in 2010,
and current
research of her lab focuses on understanding of the
molecular basis of neurodevelopmental diseases,
with the focus on autism spectrum disorders. She
graduated from Kiev State University in Ukraine, and
trained with Dr. Keith Dunker at Washington State
University studying intrinsically disordered proteins
(IDPs). She is a Member of the UCSD Institute for
Genomic Medicine, UCSD Bioinformatics and
Systems Biology Graduate Program, and Biomedical
Sciences Graduate Program. She received student-
nominated Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award, and
Outstanding Dedication to Undergraduates award for
mentoring high school and undergraduate students.
Fun Fact: Lilia jumped with parachute solo once, and did ski gliding in a tandem flight.
